Paul Richie - Elvis lookalike, soundalike, tribute artist and impersonator

Elvis Tribute Artist or Elvis Impersonator?

Which of these terms is best? Elvis impersonator is a term to describe a performer who is trying to look and sound like Elvis. Someone who tries to act in the style of Elvis. Surely a worthy aspiration and this is the term that members of the public use when booking an Elvis for a concert or wedding.  However Elvis Tribute Artist is the term of choice used by Elvis fans and the performers themselves. The big difference is that the intent in the performance is to show respect, admiration and affection for the memory of Elvis and the term Elvis Tribute Artist makes it clear that this is the aim.  The term is so well established that the abbreviation ETA is used. There is one other term that you sometimes hear, Elvii. This is just a convenient Latin style plural better than Elvis’s and doesn’t really convey any extra info. ETA’s is better.

Paul Richie give one happy fan a very big cheque!

Category: TV work

Paul is pictured with Euro Millions winner Vera Webber. Vera won one of the 25 £1,000,000 Millionaire Raffle prizes in the EuroMillions New Year’s Eve draw 2013/2014. Vera Webber, 69, a retired data-inputter, is still reeling from the win, especially as she initially thought her New Year windfall was only £20,000, not an amazing £1million. Elvis Tribute Paul Richie sang ‘Well, it’s one for the money, Two for the show, Three to get ready, Now go, cat, go.’ With a prize like that, who can disagree!

One night she brings Warwick back to the house where Warwick sleeps in a chest of drawers because there is no bed! This is a quality comedy in which Paul shows his versatlity.
